Xylem is looking for a Field Service Technician to report to our Orlando location and service our water treatment equipment at customer sites in the surrounding area. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for the installation, service, and maintenance of our water purification equipment, utilizing a company service vehicle, within our Light Industries Division. Equipment specific training will be provided. Previous technical/mechanical/plumbing experience is especially encouraged. The role involves performing installations, start-ups, tests, troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and sanitizations to various high purity water treatment equipment including Multimedia Filters, Carbon Beds, Water Softeners, Reverse Osmosis, Nano Filtration, Continuous Deionization, and more. In addition, the technician will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of three phase and single phase pumps, reading and interpreting P&IDs, completing complex PVC and CPVC piping projects, and low voltage wiring of associated components. Providing semi-complex training to customers on products and services, documenting all installations, inspections, maintenance, and repair work is also a key part of the job. The technician will maintain an adequate inventory of replacement parts and tools required for service, effectively identify problems as they occur, and provide excellent customer service while identifying any sales opportunities for new equipment, expendables, or service contracts. The role requires following an after-hours on-call schedule and responding to all problems in an appropriate and timely manner to minimize the customer's downtime, coordinating with customers to schedule service and installations, and maintaining the company service truck with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installations, start-ups, tests, troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and sanitizations to high purity water treatment equipment.
  • Install and maintain three phase and single phase pumps including replacing mechanical seals.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs and complete complex PVC and CPVC piping projects.
  • Read and interpret Electrical Wiring Diagrams and complete low voltage wiring of associated components.
  • Provide semi-complex training to customers on products and services, documenting all installations, inspections, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of replacement parts and tools required for service.
  • Identify problems as they occur and take appropriate steps to solve them including piping, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
  • Provide excellent customer service while identifying sales opportunities for new equipment, expendables, or service contracts.
  • Follow an after-hours on-call schedule and respond to all problems in a timely manner to minimize customer downtime.
  • Coordinate with customers to schedule service and installations.
  • Maintain company service truck and a clean driving record.

Requirements

  • Previous technical/mechanical/plumbing experience is encouraged.
  • Ability to perform installations, start-ups, tests, troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and sanitizations of water treatment equipment.
  • Experience with high purity water treatment equipment such as Multimedia Filters, Carbon Beds, Water Softeners, Reverse Osmosis, and more.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and Electrical Wiring Diagrams.
  • Experience in low voltage wiring and completing piping projects.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to identify sales opportunities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with industrial and laboratory water purification systems.
  • Familiarity with UV sterilization and final filtration systems.
