About the position

Join PG&E's Capital Recovery and Analysis Team, where you will be at the forefront of a rapidly evolving industry. This pivotal role within the Controller's department is essential for shaping the financial future of PG&E. Our team is responsible for managing financial analysis and support for PG&E's capital forecasts and budgets, which directly influence the company's regulatory rate cases. With over $110 billion in plant assets, we forecast capital-related items that are crucial to the company's success. In this role, you will have the opportunity to dive into an industry undergoing significant transformation. You will play a key role in developing and implementing processes and tools for budget and financial forecasts. Your responsibilities will include analyzing business results, advising partners on operational impacts, and contributing to regulatory strategy and processes. Your work will directly impact the company's revenues and rate stability for customers, making this a highly impactful position. We are looking for a talented, highly motivated Expert with a strong background in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), accounting, or utility ratemaking. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your analytical prowess and make a meaningful contribution. You will collaborate across departments, prepare and review regulatory decisions and filings, and present variance analysis to management. Additionally, you will forecast capital revenue requirements and analyze data for regulatory filings, strategizing to balance cost recovery and rate stability for customers. This role offers exposure to key stakeholders and insights into various lines of business, allowing you to learn, grow, and make a significant impact.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various departments and management levels on forecasting and budgeting.
  • Prepare, review, and research regulatory decisions and filings.
  • Prepare and present variance analysis to management.
  • Forecast capital revenue requirements and analyze data for regulatory filings.
  • Lead complex forecasting and regulatory projects.
  • Research, interpret, and analyze regulatory decisions and accounting issues.
  • Prepare forecasts, data requests, and workpapers for regulatory filings.
  • Coach and mentor Senior Analysts.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in finance or accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Capital accounting and/or utility industry experience.
  • Experience with SAP, BPC, BW, and/or Power Plant.
  • MBA or other advanced finance/business/accounting degree.
  • Professional license, such as CPA or CMA.
