About the position

The Expert IT SAP Functional Analyst plays a crucial role in the development of IT solutions for PG&E's Work Management functions. This position requires a deep understanding of all phases of the software lifecycle, including business process analysis, systems analysis, business process blueprinting, configuration, development, testing, cut-over preparation, end-user training, and go-live activities. Post go-live, the Analyst will also provide system and end-user support. The role demands proficiency in various software development methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile, and SAFe, as well as the SAP ACTIVATE methodology. In this position, the Analyst will collaborate with a team of functional and technical experts and consultants to develop and enhance SAP modules and other applications that support PG&E's business systems. The Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert for SAP Enterprise Management (EAM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM), ensuring that best practices are implemented and that the modules and applications are utilized effectively to deliver business value. The role requires the Analyst to be present at PG&E's Oakland headquarters three days a week, as the project team operates in person from Tuesday to Thursday. The position also involves providing expert consulting in SAP ERP Systems to clients and senior IT leadership, identifying and addressing business needs, and leading solution design and implementation efforts. The Analyst will be responsible for analyzing complex business processes, partnering with various teams to develop integration strategies, and documenting effective solutions to business challenges. Additionally, the Analyst will oversee the development of SAP RICEFW objects and ensure comprehensive testing and user acceptance processes are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert consulting in SAP ERP Systems to the client and senior IT leadership to identify and satisfy the business needs
  • Responsible for solution design and implementation involving SAP Enterprise Management (EAM) and/or Supply Chain Management (SCM)
  • Act as the SAP functional lead on one or more projects, reviewing deliverables by SAP consultants and being accountable for SAP delivery on assigned projects
  • Analyze end-to-end complex business processes and information needs of the clients in one or more business functional areas
  • Partner with business teams, technical analysts, architecture, and strategy organizations to develop strategies and plans to integrate SAP into total solutions
  • Evaluate and document alternatives that will provide the most effective solutions to complex business problems
  • Responsible for SAP RICEFW (Report, Interface, Conversion, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflow) objects development in work management area for projects, enhancements, and production support
  • Prepare requirements documents, As-Is, To-Be processes, and identify gaps
  • Design system processes to bridge the gap, build prototypes, prepare functional specifications, prepare test plans, and test scripts
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, support user acceptance testing (UAT), and obtain business sign-off
  • Provide SAP subject matter expertise to PG&E lines of business and ensure best practices are adapted
  • Responsible for overall SAP solution and SAP interfaces to other SAP and non-SAP systems

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science/Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 7 years designing, configuring, and developing complex work management solutions using SAP EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) and/or SCM (Supply Chain Management) modules
  • 5 years of experience as a Functional Analyst
  • 5 years of experience implementing or supporting an ERP system (e.g., SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle)

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree is a plus
  • SAP S/4 EAM implementation and/or support experience
  • Experience in SAP EAM Cloud solutions such as SAP Asset Performance Management (APM) and SAP Service and Asset Manager (SAM) and/or SAP Field Service Management (FSM)
  • Gas and/or Electric utility experience
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance, regulatory compliance, operational/disaster recovery
  • SAP EAM and/or SCM certification
  • Understanding of SAP Finance (FICO), SAP Human Capital Management (HCM), Success Factors, SAP Portfolio and Project Management (PPM), and SAP Project Systems (PS) integration with EAM Module
  • Integration experience with GIS solutions, e.g., ESRI ArcGIS SAP Geographical Enablement Framework (GEF)
