About the position

The Expert Operations Data Analyst plays a crucial role in the Finance Governance & Analytics team, which serves as a strategic partner across Business Finance and the broader Finance organization. This position is responsible for extracting and analyzing operational and finance data to support leadership, special projects, and ad-hoc requests. The analyst will develop, maintain, and enhance various database tools, ensuring compliance with data governance standards and best practices. A key aspect of this role involves identifying and solving gaps in data, which is essential for effective decision-making and problem-solving within the organization. In this hybrid position, the analyst will work remotely and from the Oakland office approximately once a week, or more frequently based on business needs. The successful candidate will collaborate with analytics platform owners and subject matter experts to prioritize and support the development of scalable financial data capabilities. The role requires a strong analytical mindset, as the analyst will utilize advanced statistical tools to create complex ad hoc reports, analyze trends, and develop actionable insights for clients. The Expert Operations Data Analyst will also manage complex data analysis projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. This includes overseeing data extraction processes, ensuring data accuracy, and providing innovative solutions to enhance databases with new data sources and improved processes. The analyst will work closely with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions and drive continuous improvement in data management and reporting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and analyze operational and finance data for leadership support, special projects, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance various database tools to ensure compliance with data governance standards.
  • Identify and problem-solve gaps in data.
  • Collaborate with analytics platform owners and subject matter experts to prioritize and support the development of scalable financial data capabilities.
  • Act as team lead and provide direction to less experienced employees.
  • Analyze data using advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad hoc reports, statistics, trends, and profiles.
  • Design data analysis to achieve business objectives and tailor communications to specific audiences.
  • Create automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery, ensuring accurate data manipulation and cleansing.
  • Develop comprehensive reports and communicate clear, concise, and actionable data analyses for clients.
  • Manage complex data analysis projects from initial request to presenting data results, ensuring completion within budget and on-time.
  • Manage very complex data extracts and ensure data accuracy during transfers to various analysts.
  • Provide new and innovative solutions and recommendations to enhance databases with new data sources and improved data processes.
  • Work with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or a job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 6 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to maintain steady state SQL extracts to support dashboards in Excel, Power BI, Tableau.
  • Skills in writing SQL queries using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Understanding of database management tools including Foundry, Snowflake, SAP/S4 Hana.
  • Knowledge/proficiency in base-SAS and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent and relevant experience.
