About the position

The Expert Privacy Compliance Product Owner at PG&E Corporation plays a crucial role within the Customer Privacy department of the Information Technology organization. This department is dedicated to supporting the Safety, Risk, Regulatory, and Compliance Management business functions by developing and maintaining technical solutions that ensure compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). The Customer Privacy IT team is responsible for managing IT support for privacy platforms that facilitate adherence to these regulations, which includes operational support, vendor coordination, and the management of cookie and consent content necessary for meeting privacy compliance requirements. The overarching mission of this role is to safeguard personal privacy at PG&E through comprehensive governance of privacy and data access, enhancing controls that protect both customer and employee personal information, while also raising awareness among employees about the importance of privacy. In this position, the Expert Privacy Compliance Product Owner serves as a subject matter expert in designated technology areas, providing strategic operational support and direction for the Customer Privacy IT operations team. This includes maintaining relationships with vendor teams, producing reports and visual management boards to measure and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs), and periodically reviewing and approving access to privacy systems. The role encompasses daily operational support activities such as patching, vulnerability management, and execution of compliance tasks. The Expert Privacy Compliance Product Owner is responsible for supporting the vision of PG&E's Customer Privacy business team by improving service quality, providing root cause analysis, and ensuring quality implementations of supporting technology. The focus is on reducing costs, increasing productivity, and facilitating organizational effectiveness through enabling technologies. Responsibilities also include analyzing and coordinating operations events related to privacy applications and supporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily and monthly tasks related to cookie compliance requirements for 50-70+ sites, including required monthly script republishes for all URLs in production and UAT.
  • Assist teams with script insertions, implementation, and troubleshooting of cookie compliance issues.
  • Conduct monthly cookie scans and coordinate across teams to categorize cookies, proactively troubleshooting cookie issues.
  • Provide guidance during day-to-day maintenance tasks to ensure the cookie and consent portion of the privacy program functions smoothly.
  • Collaborate with teams and leaders to address the needs of the Customer Privacy business and develop comprehensive solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between various departments and cross-functional teams regarding cookie and consent topics.
  • Field inquiries from users about application/software problems, assess the nature and scope of issues, and resolve problems across multiple teams including vendors.
  • Provide operational subject matter expertise on Cookie Consent and Consent & Preference OneTrust modules.
  • Champion the rollout of OneTrust product features and translate business requirements into functional requirements.
  • Maintain an enhancement backlog and conduct regular prioritization sessions for backlog items based on compliance workload and risk level.
  • Coordinate with vendors for the resolution of issues needing escalation and develop reports/dashboards for senior leadership on compliance progress.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of experience in IT or a related field.
  • Desired: BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4 years of experience implementing or using OneTrust Cookie Consent.
  • Exposure to OneTrust Consent & Preference module preferred.
  • OneTrust Cookie Certifications.
  • Proficiency in scripting/coding and utilizing APIs to automate manual tasks.
  • Deep understanding of web application architecture and the use of cookies on websites.
  • CIPP/E or CIPP/US certification (IAPP) is a plus.
