About the position

As an Expert SecDevOps Engineer at Peraton, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our national security capabilities through innovative technology solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with development teams to automate and streamline deployment pipelines, ensuring that our software delivery processes are efficient and secure. You will design and develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Python, Kubernetes, and Ansible, which are essential for maintaining our cloud-based infrastructure across various platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. In this role, you will maintain and enhance our continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes using GitLab, Jenkins, and other standard SecDevOps tools. Your expertise will be crucial in monitoring and troubleshooting system performance to ensure high availability and efficient resource utilization. You will also be responsible for integrating security best practices into the development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Your contributions will extend to the architecture and design of cloud-based infrastructure, where you will ensure that security and scalability best practices are adhered to. You will be expected to research and implement new technologies and tools that drive continuous improvement in our software delivery process. Promoting a culture of knowledge sharing within the team will be essential, as will documenting technical procedures, configurations, and the architecture of deployed solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate progress and challenges effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development teams to automate and streamline deployment pipelines.
  • Design and develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using Python, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
  • Maintain and enhance CI/CD processes using GitLab, Jenkins, and other standard SecDevOps tools to ensure smooth code development, integration, and delivery.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, ensuring high availability and efficient resource utilization.
  • Ensure security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle, including compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Contribute to the architecture and design of cloud-based (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) infrastructure, ensuring security and scalability best practices.
  • Research and implement new technologies and tools to drive continuous improvement in the software delivery process.
  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Document technical procedures, configurations, and the architecture of deployed solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate progress and challenges.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D; minimum 15 years in lieu of degree.
  • Expert knowledge of Git, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Expert in use of automation tools such as Python, Powershell, Terraform, Ansible.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to mentor and coach teammates.
  • Ability to collaboratively interact with customers including senior management, data scientists, and end users.
  • TS/SCI with poly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with orchestration and containerization tools such as K8s and Docker.
  • Experience with virtualization including virtual clusters for processing optimization.
  • Familiarity with databases such as MongoDB and Elasticsearch.
  • Experience with Splunk to enhance logging, monitoring, and analytic capabilities.
  • Experience with EC2, S3.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
