About the position

The Expert Software Engineer (Privacy Data) at Demonware is responsible for managing and optimizing data pipelines while ensuring compliance with data governance standards. This role involves mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with various teams to maintain a robust data infrastructure, and building APIs for integration with internal and external systems. The position is crucial for supporting the data management strategy and enhancing data quality across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior data engineers, promoting a culture of excellence and growth.
  • Engage with customers to facilitate compliant access to sensitive data.
  • Lead all aspects of the management and optimization of data pipelines for compliance processing within our data ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with the SRE team to develop and maintain a robust and compliant data infrastructure with minimal friction.
  • Build APIs for integration with internal systems and third-parties.
  • Maintain data quality and pursue continuous improvement and innovation in data governance practices.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in production with cloud computing platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure.
  • Production experience with version control tools and a validated understanding of containerization, build, and deployment processes (e.g., Argo CI/CD, GitHub, Jenkins, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Comfortable with one or more programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, Python.
  • Expertise in both streaming and batch-based streaming technologies including Flink, Kafka, Spark.
  • Familiar with privacy legislation and its implications on data collection, reporting, and compliance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in leading compliance-related initiatives relating directly to data and privacy legislation (GDPR, CCPA, COPPA).
