About the position

The Extension Program Coordinator (Marketing) at the University of Illinois Extension is responsible for coordinating educational programs and community outreach initiatives. This role involves planning, promoting, and evaluating programs aimed at improving community health and engagement. The coordinator will work closely with volunteers, community organizations, and Extension staff to develop and implement marketing strategies that enhance program participation and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the county director and staff in community outreach related to health and other community relations.
  • Coordinate the planning of educational activities in collaboration with other staff members.
  • Identify critical needs and issues to be addressed through programs.
  • Evaluate program activities and recommend changes for improvement or continuation.
  • Provide leadership for the local Expansion and Review Committee.
  • Maintain administrative records and disseminate educational information from Extension professionals.
  • Provide monthly reports to the County Extension Director.
  • Recruit, screen, and select volunteers for program activities.
  • Orient volunteers to program philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate volunteer training and maintain regular contact with volunteers.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan to recruit volunteers and participants for local programs.
  • Network with community organizations to assess needs and develop programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four years of responsible volunteer or professional work experience in coordinating educational or community programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, or event planning.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with social media marketing and community engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of community health issues and resources.
