About the position

The Extension Youth Program Coordinator for Mineral County serves as the local representative of CSU Extension, connecting Area Extension Agents with youth and families in the community. This temporary hourly position focuses on delivering educational programming and fostering youth development through 4-H and other initiatives. The role is designed to address the needs of diverse audiences and promote engagement in rural communities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and develop 4-H members' life and leadership skills.
  • Coordinate physical, emotional, and social well-being practices into programming.
  • Inclusion and engagement of diverse, underrepresented, and underserved youth.
  • Recruit 4-H members and volunteer leaders.
  • Enroll 4-H members and leaders using 4-H Online computer enrollment.
  • Implement in-school and after-school Extension youth development programs.
  • Assist volunteers with completing background checks and required training.
  • Assist with local and State Fair entries, delivery, and retrieval.
  • Coordinate 4-H community activities.
  • Conduct continual, informal family and community needs assessments.
  • Attend County Commission meetings and Extension staff meetings.
  • Communicate family and community needs to Extension Specialists.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to respond to the needs of diverse audiences through adaptable written and verbal communication methods.
  • Exhibits organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Personal or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems.
  • Appreciation and understanding of rural communities and an interest in working with people in a rural environment to address critical issues.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Mineral County Community and Residents.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any additional education course work.
  • Experience with 4-H or other Extension programs.
  • Skilled in self-motivation and ability to manage variable and flexible schedule.
  • Resident of Mineral County.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $17.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on experience.
