About the position

The External Partnerships Project Manager for the Scaling Community Violence Intervention for a Safer Chicago (SC2) initiative plays a crucial role in managing relationships with funders and community partners to support efforts aimed at reducing gun violence in Chicago. This position involves overseeing grant management, coordinating communications, and engaging with various stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of community violence intervention strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills and a commitment to equity and community safety.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with SC2's Administrative Partner to ensure accurate accounting of receipt and disbursement of pooled funds.
  • Serve as point of contact for grant recipients, addressing questions related to grant disbursements and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain a tracking system for funding raised and expiring grants.
  • Track and report cash flow to ensure sufficient funds for community partners and SC2 operations.
  • Collect and document information for semi-annual reports, grant applications, and impact reports.
  • Coordinate community-led funder briefings and draft quarterly newsletters for funders and partners.
  • Assist in drafting the annual report, including updates and outputs from evaluation partners.
  • Create and maintain a portfolio of prospective funders for SC2.
  • Collaborate with leadership on storytelling and communications to elevate community partners' work.
  • Support the coordination and execution of collaborative meetings and serve as a point of contact for external events.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five years of demonstrated leadership and/or program/project management experience.
  • Experience in philanthropy, community organizations, public sector, or violence prevention fields.
  • Ability to navigate multi-stakeholder relationships across sectors.
  • Proactive ownership of projects and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with community-based violence reduction initiatives in Chicago and surrounding areas.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with public funding streams in Illinois and federal funding sources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate relationships with colleagues.
