About the position

The External Recognition and Awards Lead at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the institution's research profile by leading a team focused on securing external recognitions and awards for faculty. This position involves researching award opportunities, coordinating the nomination process, and promoting faculty achievements, thereby contributing to the university's mission of fostering impactful research and scholarship.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a team of research development professionals focused on advancing external recognitions and awards for UNL faculty.
  • Research potential award opportunities relevant to UNL faculty and disseminate these opportunities to the campus community.
  • Coordinate and monitor the award nomination process, assisting with the development, writing, and editing of nomination materials.
  • Monitor data regarding faculty receiving external awards and memberships in honorary societies, promoting these achievements.
  • Coordinate with university administrators to enhance knowledge sharing and strategic coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of complex writing experience at a public, private, or non-profit organization.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly become familiar with a wide variety of scientific and scholarly disciplines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience working with administrators and/or faculty at an institution of higher education.
  • Experience developing and serving as primary author of award nominations and/or grant applications.
  • Familiarity with UNL's faculty and strengths.
  • Broad knowledge of nationally prestigious awards and guidelines for preparation.
