About the position

The External Reporting Controller, Sr. Associate at JPMorgan Chase plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance and accuracy of financial statements and required report filings with regulatory bodies. This position involves strategic initiatives, effective communication with senior leadership, and the development of technical knowledge in modern tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing, compiling, and validating financial information used in the Firm's externally reported financials including schedule preparation, validation of source information and variance and trend analysis
• Ensure conformity with applicable Regulatory or GAAP guidance and interact with accounting and regulatory policy to interpret rules
• Manage relationships with key contacts within the controller organization
• Lead and drive strategic initiatives around automation of the regulatory reporting infrastructure including testing and implementation, documentation of risk and controls and general improvements related to reporting functionality
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts around data quality review and external reporting improvement projects
• Maintain documentation to support the SOX control framework and internal audit standards
• Provide supporting information required by auditors and regulatory authorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or comparable work experience
• 5+ years work experience in public accounting, audit or financial services industry
• Ability to manage projects that require analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and time management
• Experience working in an environment that requires attention to detail and adherence to strict rules and standards
• Excellent teamwork and oral and written communication skills
• Flexible - work outside of normal business hours will be necessary on a periodic basis
• Strong Excel and computer skills
