About the position

The External Reporting Manager at First Interstate Bank is responsible for ensuring the integrity, preparation, accuracy, and filing of financial reporting documents for First Interstate BancSystem, Inc. and its subsidiaries. This role involves overseeing the SEC and regulatory filings, managing internal relationships, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of accounting practices and regulatory environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, drafting, and preparation of the quarterly earnings and SEC filing process.
• Support the preparation and review of Bank Regulatory Reports, including Call reports and FR reports.
• Manage key internal relationships and collaborate with business lines regarding the reporting process.
• Prepare and analyze quarterly analytical reviews to support Management's Discussion and Analysis.
• Maintain compliance with SOX 404 internal control framework.
• Develop an understanding of significant transactions for SEC disclosure purposes.
• Support various aspects of the external integrated audit and manage audit requests.
• Provide support for special projects and strategic initiatives.
• Review accounting procedures and implement best practices.
• Hire, supervise, evaluate, mentor, and develop accounting staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting related field.
• 8+ years of experience in accounting, including Big 4 public accounting experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC accounting and reporting requirements.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Experience in a management role.
