About the position

The Extraction Technician plays a crucial role in the extraction operations within a cannabis cultivation facility. This position is responsible for executing the cannabis extraction process and manufacturing cannabis concentrates, ensuring product quality and adherence to safety protocols. The technician may also support other departments as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support to extraction operations within the cannabis cultivation facility.
  • Execute every rotating position in the extraction lab without supervision.
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of extraction equipment.
  • Maintain full knowledge of BioTrack combinations, conversions, adjustments, and room transfers.
  • Complete the packaging process, including filling out batch records and ensuring accurate final product counts.
  • Prepare equipment, biomass, and raw materials for extraction.
  • Execute extractions and post-extraction processes.
  • Operate extraction equipment such as rotary evaporators, reactors, and filtration equipment.
  • Conduct quality control testing and procedures to ensure product consistency and efficiency.
  • Collect samples for quality testing as needed.
  • Regularly clean and sterilize equipment and workspace.
  • Maintain strict inventory records of raw materials, chemicals, waste, and equipment.
  • Manage, document, and dispose of lab waste appropriately.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals and products.
  • Follow laboratory safety protocols and monitor quality control measures in accordance with laws.
  • Adhere to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the facility and production areas.
  • Report any system or equipment discrepancies to the Extraction Manager.
  • Ensure all products are of high quality and visually aesthetic, reporting concerns to management for remediation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience in a related position.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn about, operate, and maintain facility equipment safely.
  • Understanding of proper and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to safely climb, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and stand for at least 8 hours per day, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and able to register with the state's cannabis commission as an agent.
  • Compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent in a scientific discipline preferred.
  • Previous experience in a regulated production facility (food, beverage, CPG, etc.) preferred.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of extractions, separations, isolations, distillation, and/or fractionation preferred.
