About the position
The Extrusion Operator position at Pactiv Evergreen involves consistently and safely operating extrusion machines to meet or exceed standard levels of operation. This includes managing waste, ensuring product quality, maximizing efficiency, and optimizing machine utilization. The operator is responsible for troubleshooting, identifying, and correcting machine-related issues through proper adjustments to various machine components. Additionally, the role requires providing innovative solutions to production challenges and offering support and guidance to less experienced personnel. Operators must complete end-of-shift paperwork accurately, documenting crewing time, machine time, and production quantities. A critical aspect of the job is the ability to inspect products for defects and make necessary machine adjustments to rectify the causes of these defects. Operators are expected to adhere to all housekeeping, standard work, and safety guidelines to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Responsibilities
- Consistently and safely operate machines at or above standard levels of operation, including waste, quality, efficiency, and utilization.
- Troubleshoot, identify, and correct machine-related problems through proper adjustments to various parts of the machine.
- Provide innovative solutions for production issues.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced personnel.
- Complete appropriate end-of-shift paperwork, accounting for crewing time, machine time, and production quantities.
- Inspect and recognize defective products and make machine adjustments to correct the cause of defects.
- Observe all housekeeping, standard work, and safety guidelines.
Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- Analytical skills and math skills for recording production data.
- Basic troubleshooting skills to resolve minor machine issues.
- Understanding of production measurement tools such as levels.
- Knowledge of product quality standards and principles of extrusion machines.
