About the position

Join the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) team as an F-16 Avionics Field Service Engineer (FSE) to support the Royal Bahraini Air Force (RBAF) F-16 Block 40 fleet. This position is located in Bahrain and is an accompanied assignment, allowing for an employee plus one. The FSE will provide on-site advice, liaison, and informal training in the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and systems related to Block 70 F-16 avionics, both on and off the aircraft. The primary objective of the FSE is to elevate the technical skills and abilities of the personnel responsible for the operation and maintenance of F-16 aircraft and associated equipment/systems to a level of self-sufficiency. Specific tasks include providing on-site and on-equipment informal unit training to the component level on installation, maintenance, and operating techniques. This includes adjustment, calibration, troubleshooting, bench checks, routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of the prime equipment/system. The FSE will also provide advice in identifying and instructing on the use of special tools, handling equipment, aerospace ground equipment (AGE), and test equipment associated with F-16 aircraft and avionics systems. Additionally, the FSE will devise local informal training programs and provide advice in identifying needed training programs, emphasizing safety precautions in all training provided. The role requires rendering technical advice to resolve difficult and unusual maintenance problems, providing consistent analysis of maintenance difficulties, and advising on the establishment of maintenance, inspection, and training programs designed to improve the quality of maintenance. The FSE will act as a liaison to disseminate information related to maintenance and operational problems quickly to operations and maintenance personnel. Training on the use and interpretation of applicable technical orders will also be provided, along with assistance in accident investigations and preparing failure data reports and unsatisfactory reports. Flexibility in working hours is essential to accommodate customer requirements, and candidates must be willing to work a non-standard 40-hour work week as assigned by the leader.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site/on-equipment informal unit training to the component level on installation, maintenance, and operating techniques.
  • Provide advice in the identification of and instruction on the use of special tools, handling equipment, aerospace ground equipment (AGE), and test equipment associated with F-16 aircraft and avionics systems.
  • Devise local informal training programs and provide advice in identifying needed training programs.
  • Emphasize safety precautions to be taken in all training provided.
  • Demonstrate best methods of modifications and retrofit kits related to F-16 systems.
  • Render technical advice to resolve difficult and unusual maintenance problems.
  • Provide consistent analysis of maintenance difficulties.
  • Provide advice on the establishment of maintenance, inspection, and training programs designed to improve the quality of maintenance.
  • Provide liaison through which information related to maintenance and operational problems can be quickly disseminated to operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Provide training on the use and interpretation of applicable technical orders.
  • Assist in accident investigation and preparing failure data reports and unsatisfactory reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years avionics systems/subsystems experience or 8 years avionics systems/subsystems experience without a degree.
  • At least 3 years of aircraft avionics experience with F-16 Systems and Subsystems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

  • Familiarity with F-16 Avionics Modifications and Improvements, General Aircraft Mechanical (APG) System, and Weapons System.

  • Familiarity with Common Configuration Implementation Program (CCIP) modified F-16 aircraft.
  • Previous Falcon 20/20 Customer Service Experience.
  • Experience working with Foreign Government representatives.
  • Experience training others, including Foreign Military.
  • Experience with Export Controlled Data.
