About the position

The Flight Test Control Engineer position at Lockheed Martin involves providing ground operations support for flight test planning, execution, and verification/validation of performance at the F-16 Combined Test Force (CTF) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA. The role requires collaboration with the US Air Force, contractors, and civil service engineers as part of an integrated test team, ensuring aircraft test readiness and configuration control of aircraft systems. The engineer will coordinate maintenance and logistics support, act as a liaison between maintenance and flight operations, and adapt to rapidly changing tasks and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and direct the execution of preflight and post-flight activities to ensure aircraft test readiness.
  • Provide configuration control of aircraft software and hardware configurations to meet test objectives.
  • Coordinate maintenance and logistic support for systems checkouts, flight operations, and anomaly troubleshooting.
  • Act as the principal focal point between maintenance, engineering, and flight crew.
  • Relay maintenance-related aircraft constraints to the aircraft Flight Test Engineers (FTEs).
  • Consult with management on changes or problems and solve application and technical issues.

Requirements

  • Broad experience with fighter aircraft flight test methods, aircraft maintenance, avionics maintenance, and flight test instrumentation.
  • Experience in USAF maintenance activities and procedures, and T-2 modification processes.
  • Must have an active/current Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • F-16 experience is highly preferred; F-22 & F-35 experience desired.
  • Exceptional planning and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of project management.
  • Strong customer focus with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Above average oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within time and budget constraints.
  • Experience with DIMS and ability to read aircraft drawings.
  • General knowledge of other related aircraft engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent customer intimacy skills.
