About the position

The Aircraft Structures Mechanic at Boeing Global Services will be responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and upgrades on F-22 systems and structures at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. This role requires a strong understanding of aircraft technical orders, blueprints, and various maintenance actions on aircraft systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and engines. The position emphasizes collaboration and innovation in a diverse and inclusive environment, contributing to significant work in the aerospace sector.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
  • Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting user documentation such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals.
  • Fabrics and modifies aerospace products according to specifications.
  • Utilizes technical publications effectively.
  • Ensures proper use and understanding of personal protective equipment (PPE) including eyes, ears, foot, and head protection.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of aircraft maintenance experience/aircraft structural repair.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
  • Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  • Experience with aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.
  • Experience in precision drilling, cutting, and fabricating aircraft structural components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience repairing and servicing military fighter aircraft such as F-15, F-16, F-18, A-10, F-22, F-35.
  • 1+ year(s) of 5th generation aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting aircraft avionics systems.
  • Experience with metal tubing and fittings, including swaging applications.
