About the position

The F-35 Block-4 Production Chief Engineer at BAE Systems is responsible for leading a cross-functional team to deliver the next generation Electronic Warfare (EW) system for the F-35. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure a successful transition to production and addressing technical issues within the production supply chain. The position requires a blend of technical oversight, leadership, and customer interaction to support the production of Block 4 hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering production support team for Block 4 upgrades.
  • Provide technical authority for transition-to-production (TTP) and production issues.
  • Oversee root cause/corrective action investigations for major program technical issues.
  • Manage specification change activities and maintain the technical baseline in production.
  • Interface with development teams on new product development and production needs.
  • Support proposal development activities including cost estimating and presentations.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support factory operations to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with 12 years of experience, or 10 years with a Master's, or 8 years with a Ph.D.
  • Active US Government security clearance (ability to possess TS).
  • Leadership experience in directing and mentoring engineers on complex production programs.
  • Firm understanding of production processes and documentation needs (MRB, SDL, ESS, ATP procedures).
  • Expertise in RF and Digital System Architectures.
  • Strong skills in documenting, communicating, and leading root cause and corrective action processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline with 13 years of experience, or Ph.D. with 11 years of experience.
  • Experience with EW and/or Radar and Missile Systems.
  • Experience with technical performance measurements and cost account management.
  • Sustainment phase experience.
