About the position

The F-35 WIPT SDB I / SDB II Integration Engineer is a senior systems engineering role that provides essential engineering and technical support for the Small Diameter Bomb I and II (SDB I, II) as part of the F-35 Weapons Integration Product Team (WIPT). This position is critical in ensuring the successful integration of these advanced weapon systems into the F-35 platform. The role is based at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, where the engineer will serve as the primary focal point for SDB weapon integration within the team. In this capacity, the engineer will maintain insight into and coordinate activities related to the functional integration of SDB I and II, including laboratory testing, interface management, and flight test planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating test activities with various government agencies, such as the Joint Operational Test Team (JOTT) and the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E). This includes performing ground and flight test planning, particularly concerning stores, Airborne Multi-Environment (AME), and Systems and Reliability Engineering (S&RE) environmental compatibility and certification. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical guidance to contractors and the Joint Program Office to support current and future Developmental Testing (DT) and Operational Testing (OT). This role requires a high level of expertise and experience in weaponeering, particularly with the SDB variants, to effectively advise and assist the government customer in achieving successful integration and testing outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist the Government customer on SDB I and II integration.
  • Maintain insight and coordinate activities related to SDB I, II functional integration, laboratory test, interface management, and flight test planning.
  • Coordinate test activity with other Government agencies such as JOTT and DOT&E.
  • Perform ground and flight test planning related to stores/AME/S&RE environmental compatibility and certification.
  • Provide technical guidance to the contractor and the Joint Program Office for support of current and future DT/OT testing.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • 15+ years of demonstrated experience in weaponeering, especially with the SDB variants is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain program security clearances.
  • Must be able to travel as required.
