About the position

GDIT is seeking an F5 Network Engineer to support the Operations Team for the JSP ETM-NG contract at the Pentagon. This role involves providing technical leadership and oversight to the Core Transport Network Engineering team, mentoring network engineers, and ensuring the health and maintenance of a complex networking infrastructure that supports over 8000 devices. The position requires a strong understanding of network security and best practices, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to the Core Transport Network Engineering team.
  • Mentor and instruct network engineers on best practices and network enhancements.
  • Ensure the health and maintenance of a large networking infrastructure.
  • Provide network administration and operational support for over 8000 networked devices.
  • Troubleshoot network devices including routers, switches, load balancers, VPNs, and VoIP.
  • Collaborate with the Security team to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Develop scripts and automation solutions for migration and integration tasks.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring and verify the integrity of networking hardware and services.
  • Document and conduct changes during ASI windows.
  • Serve as a liaison with senior clients to ensure their needs are met.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of related information technology experience.
  • 3+ years experience supporting DOD, DISA, or JSP Network environments.
  • Expert knowledge of information technology principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Experience with F5 load balancers, including troubleshooting and configuration.
  • Extensive experience with Cisco and Juniper routers and switches.
  • Experience in Software Defined Networks (SDN).
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure topologies, security policies, and firewalls.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x protocols.
  • Experience managing DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP in a multi-site environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • F5 Network certification.
  • Experience with proposals.
  • Experience utilizing Remedy ITSM.
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting server operating systems such as Linux, Windows, or UNIX.
  • Experience documenting network topology using Visio.
