About the position

The Leidos Digital Modernization (DigMod) Growth team is seeking a seasoned Business Development (BD) professional with extensive experience and domain expertise in the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and related Air Traffic Administrations, both within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside (OCONUS). This role is pivotal in leveraging existing relationships and industry knowledge to drive business growth and expansion in infrastructure, engineering, and related domestic markets for Leidos. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a highly visible and strategic team, contributing to the company's reputation as a leading technology provider for the US Government. In this position, the individual will be responsible for various key activities including pipeline development, market research, whitespace identification, strategy development, and relationship management. The role also encompasses bid qualification, competitive intelligence, and supporting capture management and proposal activities. The candidate will have the opportunity to engage with other customers, markets, and technologies across the Leidos corporation, enhancing their professional exposure and growth. The primary responsibilities include identifying potential growth markets within and outside of the FAA, developing the opportunity pipeline through the identification and qualification of new business opportunities, and collaborating closely with the current FAA NISC program team to execute safety and training actions. The individual will also explore OCONUS opportunities in adjacent market spaces and growth interest areas, develop and execute plans to understand the FAA customer's requirements, and lead the creation and delivery of presentations, white papers, RFI responses, and other marketing materials as needed. Participation in the Leidos capture process, including proposal development and competitive intelligence assessments, is also a critical aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential growth markets within and outside of the FAA.
  • Develop the opportunity pipeline through the identification and qualification of new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with the current FAA NISC program team to execute on safety and training actions.
  • Explore OCONUS opportunities in adjacent market space and growth interest areas.
  • Develop and execute plans for securing knowledge and understanding of the FAA customer's requirements, issues, and needs during the pursuit and capture phases.
  • Lead the development and delivery of presentations, white papers, RFI responses, and other marketing artifacts as required.
  • Participate in the Leidos capture process, including proposal development activities such as opportunity gate reviews, competitive intelligence assessments, collaboration sessions, and relevant proposal reviews.
  • Actively contribute to strategy development, communication and marketing activities, market analysis and competitive assessment, and partnership/teaming efforts.
  • Support internal processes for BD operations to manage budgets, pipeline, and strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field of study with 12+ years of experience OR master's degree with 10+ years' experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with the FAA and international aviation markets.
  • Significant experience and understanding of the FAA's air traffic requirements, operational and engineering requirements, and technologies.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with external and internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and skills that foster teamwork.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and competitive edge.

Nice-to-haves

  • Program execution experience in engineering and/or program management of FAA programs with the FAA and/or other Air Navigation Service Providers.
  • Experience and/or understanding of international business and/or culture, including commercial procurements and contracts.
