About the position

The FAA Production Manager at Celestica is a first-level managerial role within the FAA Repair Station, responsible for overseeing semi-skilled and entry-level professional employees engaged in diverse and specialized tasks. This position plays a crucial role in establishing annual plans and objectives while interpreting policies relevant to the functional area. The manager contributes to policy development and ensures that work is performed in accordance with established professional standards and practices. Assignments are received in the form of tasks and goals, and the manager follows established processes to meet the unit's objectives. The role involves executing budgets, developing schedules, and enforcing policies and procedures, with the understanding that erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results can negatively impact the site's operations, schedules, and performance goals. In this position, the FAA Production Manager provides immediate supervision to employees across multiple functions or work groups, assigning tasks and regularly checking work to ensure compliance with established guidelines. The manager is responsible for making hiring and firing decisions, reviewing employee performance, recommending compensation, coaching for improved performance, and administering discipline as necessary. Building strong internal and external relationships is essential, as the manager will need to exchange information and provide explanations in a problem-solving capacity. The role also includes coordinating resources such as materials, personnel, and equipment to achieve on-time production of quality products within budget guidelines. The manager identifies and resolves bottlenecks in the production and repair processes, guiding teams to continuously improve operations. A deep understanding of the production process, tools, and equipment is necessary, along with knowledge of materials and processes that impact customer satisfaction, product quality, and profitability. Effective communication with a diverse range of internal and external customers is critical, as is the ability to lead, manage, train, and motivate employees to achieve high production levels within tight deadlines. Additionally, a good understanding of IT concepts and integrated business applications is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct management to semi-skilled and entry-level professional employees in the FAA Repair Station.
  • Establish annual plans and objectives related to the functional area.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in production management or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the production process and tools used in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of materials and processes relevant to production.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of resources to meet production metrics.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Proven leadership and management skills to motivate a diverse group of employees.
  • Good understanding of IT concepts and integrated business applications.
