About the position

The Fabrication Assembler position at Hitachi Global Air Power involves assembling steel panels, doors, and supports based on engineering drawings and specifications. This role is critical in ensuring the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process, contributing to the production of industrial compressed air solutions. The position is located at the Michigan City, Indiana plant and operates on the 2nd shift, requiring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and follow basic engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions to accurately assemble steel panels, doors, and supports.
  • Utilize handheld tools such as a rivet gun, hand-held screw, and drill gun.
  • Perform work for loading and/or unloading parts on the powder coat line.
  • Conduct quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.
  • Follow safe material handling processes, including forklift driving and overhead crane operating.
  • Safely execute daily production, quality, and on-time delivery requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area at each shift.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years' previous manufacturing assembly experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required (e.g., spreadsheets, data entry, email).
  • Ability to understand basic engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures.
  • Basic reading skills necessary to perform the functions of the job.
  • Experience working with various hand and pneumatic tools and measuring tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
