About the position
The Sheet Metal Fabricator position involves working with metal materials to create structures and components according to specified designs. The role requires a strong understanding of assembly instructions, precise measurement skills, and the ability to operate various metalworking machines. Safety and structural integrity are paramount in the fabrication process.
Responsibilities
- Interpreting blueprints and drawings to determine the specifications and requirements of the task at hand.
- Cutting, bending, shaping, and smoothing metal and other materials using hand tools, power tools, and machines.
- Testing and inspecting welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Maintaining equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Using notch, shear, punch press, and metal bender and brake.
Requirements
- 3+ years' experience with fabrication/press brake and shears.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Able to read drawings and interpret them accurately.
- Experience working with and measuring different gauges of metal, primarily aluminum and occasionally brass.
- Knowledge of how to accurately measure ID (inside dimension) and OD (outside measurement).
