About the position

The NY3 Facilities and Data Center Technician IV is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the facilities and data center systems, including electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and communications infrastructure. This position requires expertise in managing critical systems and processes to maximize customer uptime while working the overnight shift from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am EST. The technician will collaborate closely with the Data Center Manager to maintain efficiency and implement innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire life safety systems.
  • Complete CoreSite's Data Center Operations Qualification Program within the first nine months of employment.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
  • Track and trend operational characteristics and mentor junior staff.
  • Work with the Data Center Manager to complete preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure data center operates at maximum efficiency and recommend new technologies.
  • Manage systems to avoid unplanned outages and maintain mechanical loading capacity.
  • Provide expertise in fire and electrical codes and assist in technical writing for maintenance procedures.
  • Manage trouble tickets and work order completion processes.
  • Assist in asset and consumable inventory management.

Requirements

  • Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center environment.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with large commercial and industrial systems.
  • Proven leadership skills and excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to operate in a process-driven team environment and solve problems logically.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data trending and analysis.
  • Knowledge of fiber optics and cabling infrastructure best practices.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing IT hardware and network switches.
