About the position

The NY3 Facilities and Data Center Technician IV is a critical role responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the facilities and data center systems, including electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and communications infrastructure. This position requires expertise in managing complex systems and processes to maximize customer uptime while minimizing operational costs. The role is specifically for the overnight shift, requiring work from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am EST, and involves close collaboration with the Data Center Manager to maintain high operational efficiency and implement innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire life safety systems.
• Complete CoreSite's Data Center Operations Qualification Program within the first nine months of employment.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
• Track and trend operational characteristics and mentor junior staff.
• Work with the Data Center Manager to complete a preventive and predictive maintenance schedule.
• Analyze existing operating conditions and recommend new technologies for efficiency improvements.
• Manage systems to avoid unplanned outages and ensure maximum operational efficiency.
• Provide applied mechanical and integrated control expertise for the data center.
• Assist in technical writing for maintenance procedures and manage maintenance discrepancies.
• Monitor the building fire alarm system and conduct regular facility and security tours.

Requirements

• Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center environment.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with large commercial and industrial systems.
• Proven leadership skills and experience with fiber and copper communications cabling.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Ability to coordinate and supervise contractors performing maintenance or upgrades.
