About the position

The Facilities and Data Center Technician IV is an expert-level role responsible for ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of electrical, mechanical, fire life safety systems, and communications infrastructure within the data center. This position requires working the swing shift from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm CST, Tuesday to Saturday, and involves close collaboration with the Data Center Manager to maximize customer uptime and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert for electrical, mechanical, controls, and fire life safety systems.
• Complete CoreSite's Data Center Operations Qualification Program within the first nine months of employment.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
• Track and trend operational characteristics.
• Mentor junior staff members.
• Work with the Data Center Manager to complete a preventive and predictive maintenance schedule.
• Analyze existing operating conditions and recommend new technologies for efficiency improvements.
• Manage systems to avoid unplanned outages and ensure maximum operational efficiency.
• Provide expertise in fire and electrical codes and technical writing for maintenance procedures.
• Assist in asset and consumable inventory management and ensure proper labeling of equipment.

Requirements

• Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center environment.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with large commercial and industrial systems.
• Proven leadership skills and excellent communication abilities.
• Ability to operate hand and machine tools and electrical tools like multi-meters.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a data center, hospital, or power plant environment.
• Knowledge of fiber optics and cabling infrastructure best practices.
• Experience with data trending and analysis.
