About the position

As a Facilities Chemical Engineer 4 at Lam Research, you will be an integral part of the Global Operations Group, which combines information systems, facilities, supply chain, logistics, and high-volume manufacturing to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our global business operations. Your role will focus on planning and implementing changes to facilities, ensuring optimal operation and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. You will coordinate with architecture and engineering firms to develop design criteria and prepare detailed layout drawings, as well as prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing and estimating design costs, inspecting construction progress, and developing performance specifications to meet unique operational requirements and safety codes. In this position, you will be responsible for the chemical infrastructure systems at the Fremont and Livermore campuses. This includes overseeing core chemical systems such as specialty gas systems and various water systems, ensuring their operational performance and compliance. You will provide engineering design review input and approval for facility infrastructure and process tool installation projects, as well as support construction input and commissioning for these projects. Your role will also involve maintaining load and capacity studies for facility infrastructure systems, directing liquid balancing services, and driving improvements in system performance and uptime. You will work closely with contractors and service providers to ensure operational results are met and perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis during project design development phases.

Responsibilities

  • Plan facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts.
  • Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
  • Prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
  • Review and estimate design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, and preparation.
  • Inspect construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Develop criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
  • Oversee chemical infrastructure systems for Fremont and Livermore campuses.
  • Provide chemical engineering design review input and approval for facility infrastructure and process tool installation projects.
  • Maintain operational ownership of chemical system performance.
  • Support as-built documentation of chemical system layouts and P&ID's.
  • Maintain load/capacity studies for facility infrastructure systems.
  • Provide direction for liquid balancing services.
  • Drive improvement of infrastructure system performance and uptime.
  • Work directly with contractors and service providers to ensure delivery of operational results.
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis during project design development phase.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of high tech/semiconductor R&D lab/wafer fab experience.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor specialty gases and safety practices.
  • Familiarity with process PLC control systems.
  • Experience with standard operating procedure creation and training skills.
  • Experience with energy efficiency improvement projects.
  • Capital and expensed project financial management and control experience.
  • Strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment.
