About the position

Texas Instruments is seeking Facilities Engineering Interns for an exciting opportunity within our global facilities organization. As a Facilities Intern, you will be involved in significant projects related to your major that are both challenging and beneficial to the organization. The role encompasses various responsibilities in Facilities Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) Engineering, where you will oversee site utilities, excavation, roofing, and waterproofing maintenance programs. You will also be involved in the oversight of site green spaces and other property aspects related to site planning. Your tasks will include developing and executing a site appearance roadmap, coordinating CSA-related projects to meet design criteria, scope, budget, and schedule, and partnering with management on technical, administrative, financial, and strategic communications during the execution of various facilities projects. In addition, you will support Technician and Operator training, maintain various management tasks, and ensure compliance with TI ESH and applicable codes and standards. This includes managing work permits, building permits, and other necessary documentation. You will also partner with management to create scopes of work for bidding by CSA contractors and manage the awarded contractors. Your role will require you to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Operating Objectives (SOOs) for the systems you own. As part of project management, you will coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and TI sustaining teams to complete CSA scope for major projects while meeting safety, cost, and schedule goals. You will manage CSA-related works to comply with applicable codes and standards, which include civil works, structural foundations, exterior and interior architectural works, cleanroom architecture, and roofing. Your responsibilities will also involve providing construction administration, responding to submittals, and ensuring that all CSA-related systems and infrastructure are installed and perform as designed. Strong communication and coordination skills are essential to plan and execute projects seamlessly, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of site utilities, excavation, roofing, and waterproofing maintenance program.
  • Oversight of site green space and other property aspects related to site planning.
  • Develop and execute site appearance roadmap.
  • Oversee and coordinate CSA related projects to meet design criteria, scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Partner with management on technical, administrative, financial, schedule aspects, strategic communications, and customer stakeholder relationships during the execution of various facilities projects.
  • Support Technician and Operator training as well as Facilities Engineering for knowledge sharing of CSA scope related activities and compliance.
  • Maintain CM's, PM's, Event Manager Tasks, and other work as required.
  • Ensure all work complies with TI ESH and applicable codes and standards, including work permits, building permits, confined space permits, and burn permits.
  • Partner with management in creating scopes of work for bidding by CSA contractors and manage awarded contractors.
  • Develop and maintain SOP's and SOO's for systems that you own.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and TI sustaining team(s) to complete CSA scope for major projects to meet safety, cost, and schedule goals.
  • Manage CSA related works on the project to comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide construction administration and management including responding to submittals and requests for information.
  • Complete projects safely and reliably with zero impact to customer operations.
  • Successfully interface with customer organizations and maintain effective communications.
  • Work with peer CSA engineers to develop redundancy for each other when necessary.
  • Provide seismic related support to other disciplines where applicable.
  • Direct and execute project commissioning to ensure all CSA related systems and infrastructure are installed and perform as designed.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or architecture.
  • Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA or higher.

  • Basic knowledge of general electrical and mechanical systems operations as they interact and are installed within building structural and architectural systems.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple design disciplines on a variety of projects.
