About the position

The Data Center Technician III plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of the data center. This position requires a strong understanding of telecommunications, mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems, as well as data center operating procedures. The technician will be responsible for day-to-day operations, ensuring that all systems function efficiently and effectively, while also providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operational integrity and security of the data center.
• Monitor and maintain chilled water systems, HVAC systems, and electrical power distribution.
• Perform customer infrastructure build-outs including cage builds and overhead installations.
• Manage cabling infrastructure and telecommunications responsibilities.
• Respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems and provide feedback to management.
• Complete work orders and customer service tickets in a timely manner.
• Track and complete preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Provide day-to-day exceptional customer service and support.
• Assist with database management of maintenance discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in data center operations or related field.
• Firm understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in data centers.
• Proficient knowledge of NEC, NFPA codes, and compliance issues.
• Experience with chilled water systems, HVAC equipment, and electrical distribution.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to operate hand and machine tools and electrical tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC).
• Leadership experience in a technical environment.
• Knowledge of fiber optics and cabling infrastructure best practices.
