Your contribution will help deliver essential water solutions that support both current and future generations. In this role, you will support the program management services to the Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) with a five-year, $3.9 billion capital improvement program serving more than five million people in Northeastern Illinois. This leadership position is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing water infrastructure improvements and overall asset management functions in delivering nearly one billion gallons per day of drinking water services. Your work will focus on twelve large water pump stations, two of the world's largest water purification plants, large conveyance tunnels, and critical hydraulic structures.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Task Leader of the facilities group responsible for the development and delivery of the capital improvement plan for major water system facilities that include water treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, intake structures, and raw and finished water supply tunnels.
  • Provide technical oversight for implementation of projects.
  • Coordinate and participate in project presentations to clients and other external groups.
  • Lead conceptual project development and RFQ preparation, participate in design consultant selection, and negotiate final scope and fee for various assignments.
  • Coordinate and participate in contract negotiations with design and construction management consultants to finalize project assignments.
  • Direct project team and monitor consultants' compliance with contractual commitments.
  • Monitor/manage project production for compliance with schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Supervise technical professionals and other project managers including workload and staffing management.
  • Monitor and report financial and completion status of projects to client.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Illinois or the ability to obtain one within the first 6 months of employment.
  • 15-20 years of experience in Water/Wastewater as an engineer and project manager.
  • Experience working on municipal projects.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including client interaction, public speaking, and persuasive ability.
  • Strong project financial management skills along with the ability to lead diverse, multi-disciplined teams.
