About the position

As a member of the Sustainable Workplaces Team at General Motors, you will focus on facility electrical power expertise, supporting a wide range of facilities across the US. This role involves working with a leading team to design, construct, and maintain facilities and building assets, ensuring safety, compliance, and cost-efficiency while promoting social and ecological sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize rigorous logic and methods to solve complex problems and provide effective solutions.
  • Anticipate future consequences and trends, creating competitive strategies and plans.
  • Meet the expectations of internal and external customers, using feedback for design and service improvements.
  • Collaborate with supplier partners to ensure services meet the latest specifications and design guides.
  • Engineer high-quality, sustainable systems and processes to support business productivity.
  • Manage the creative process of others and facilitate effective brainstorming for innovative ideas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in electrical power systems design, maintenance, and modification.
  • Experience as an electrician, engineer, or project manager for facility electrical power projects.
  • Experience with electrical power analysis in commercial, industrial, and research facilities.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively with service providers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Understanding of GM's OneSpec guidelines, facilities, and processes.
  • Licensed or tracked for licensing (EIT, apprentice) or certified in skilled trades, engineering, or energy management fields.
  • Experience with medium voltage (15kV) electrical equipment or customer-owned substations.
