About the position

The Facilities Electrical Project Engineer Controls at Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) is a pivotal role that provides comprehensive engineering support and project management for major maintenance and capital improvement projects at the Grafton facility. This position is responsible for overseeing all equipment upgrades, repairs, and facility enhancements, ensuring that projects align with the operational goals of the plant. The engineer will collaborate closely with Maintenance management to coordinate outages and optimize resource utilization, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations. In this role, the engineer will develop project scopes, objectives, and timelines, engaging all relevant stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility across multiple concurrent projects. The engineer will act as a lead on both single and multi-discipline projects, managing budgets, schedules, materials, subcontractors, and internal personnel effectively. A critical aspect of the role involves evaluating safety requirements and ensuring regulatory compliance in all designs, thereby maintaining a safe working environment. The engineer will also troubleshoot problems, propose solutions, and work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. This position requires the ability to interact with a diverse range of personnel, including salaried staff, hourly bargaining-unit employees, consultants, and subcontractors. The engineer must possess the necessary skills to design, test, and implement automated systems, and must be willing to work in various challenging environments, including heights, confined spaces, and areas that may be hot, loud, or oily. Additionally, the engineer will serve as a valuable information resource to maintenance personnel, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the facility's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scope, objectives, and timelines involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility for multiple projects at a time.
  • Perform as a lead engineer on single or multi-discipline projects.
  • Manage budget, schedule, materials, subcontractors, and internal personnel on projects.
  • Evaluate safety requirements and regulatory compliance of designs.
  • Troubleshoot problems, offer solutions, work independently, and in a team setting.
  • Work with salaried personnel, hourly bargaining-unit employees, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Design, test, and implement automated systems.
  • Serve as an information resource to maintenance personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 1-1/2 to 5 years of experience in plant operations or maintenance.
  • Proven track record in project management and CAPEX projects.
  • Strong electrical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred knowledge about Allen Bradley Micrologix PLC Controllers and use of RSLogix programming software.
  • Preferred knowledge of SCADA automation programming.
  • Preferred knowledge about NFPA70e, Arc-Flash safety, Switchgear maintenance, circuit breakers, transformers, and other medium (115kV to 2.4kV) and low voltage electric infrastructure.
  • Preferred knowledge on how to read ladder logic and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Good communication and organization skills.
