About the position

The iconic Hotel del Coronado is looking for a Facilities Engineer I - Plant Engineer to join the team! Join one of the last surviving wooden Victorian beach resorts in the world and after a $400M renovation and expansion, the resort is more stunning than ever. Located on Coronado Island just minutes from Downtown San Diego, this 28-acre property was built in 1888 and has over 750 rooms, cottages and villas with 65,000 square feet of banquet space, and 10 food and beverage outlets. This includes 4 restaurants, 2 bars, a food truck, marketplace, ice cream shop, and in-room dining. Schedule: Mainly PM and overnight shifts. Availability to work weekends and holidays required.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect, operate, maintain and repair mechanical equipment in the power plant and mechanical rooms throughout the facility.
  • Operate fan systems and maintain temperature controls.
  • Read blueprints and technical manuals, disassemble and reassemble equipment associated with all mechanical systems using various tools and equipment.
  • Follow manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations for preventative maintenance of all mechanical equipment in the physical plant and mechanical areas of the hotel.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on the mechanical equipment.
  • Log and maintain all required readings for physical plant of the hotel.
  • Maintain, test, log, and adjust water treatment readings for mechanical systems of hotel including the boiler, chilled water, condenser, and other closed loop systems.
  • Maintain boiler and chiller rooms of hotel in a clean and orderly condition including painting as necessary.
  • Monitor and adjust hotel's Building Automation System including but not limited to meeting room temperatures, public space temperatures, air handlers, heat exchangers, pumps, etc.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems such as water distribution, steam supply, pressure reducing stations, and chiller and high-pressure boiler operation.
  • Ability to operate fan systems and maintain temperature controls.
  • Experience in reading blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment associated with all mechanical systems using various tools and equipment.
  • Experience in performing preventative maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hospitality or hotel maintenance environments.
  • Familiarity with Building Automation Systems.
