About the position

The Facilities Engineer at KBR is responsible for preparing plans and specifications for construction projects, including new facilities and renovations. This role involves conducting site studies, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring contractor compliance with project specifications. The engineer will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Project Plans and Specifications for construction and renovation projects.
  • Conduct Preliminary Planning and Site Selection, including assessing ground suitability.
  • Design Layouts and provide accurate Cost Estimates for projects.
  • Inspect and Apply Specifications to ensure construction activities meet standards.
  • Review Contractor Compliance and suitability for the project.
  • Prepare Submission Documents in the form of drawings and specifications for review.
  • Conduct Site Studies to gather information on local conditions affecting designs.
  • Prepare Scope of Work including cost estimates and detailed designs.
  • Evaluate Repair or Replacement Methods using engineering standards.
  • Develop Design Ideas that are practical and efficient for project objectives.
  • Estimate Government Costs for the work to be performed.
  • Review Contractor Proposals for completeness and pricing.
  • Evaluate Project Elements using professional engineering knowledge.
  • Maintain Liaison with Stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Perform Additional Duties as assigned within the scope of facilities engineering.

Requirements

  • At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in facilities engineering.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desirable.
  • Proven project management experience in large-scale construction or renovation projects.
  • Experience with specialized systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lightning detection systems.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance and possess an active U.S Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Strong technical skills in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings.
  • Excellent analytical skills for cost estimation and feasibility studies.
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder interaction.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to lead project teams effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced engineering software tools.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and compliance standards in construction.
