About the position

The Facilities Engineering Supervisor is responsible for directly supervising and providing technical guidance to the Facilities Engineering team. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the annual budget and for ensuring quality, on-time delivery of projects per the annual development plan. This position provides technical support and ensures that all facilities' projects are executed in accordance with all Company and Industry standards and guidelines. This position must actively communicate with team members on all key/major decisions and works closely with the field Construction Superintendent and Facilities Engineering Manager. This position works in close collaboration with Production and Asset engineering, field and EHS staff. A successful candidate must be team oriented, self-motivated and demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding safety, operational, and environmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and managing supervision coverage for Facilities Engineering team.
  • Supervises and ensures technical work is of the highest quality and in compliance with industry and applicable Company standards and guidelines.
  • Participates in the hiring of staff, performance reviews and personnel development efforts for direct reports.
  • Providing technical support to ensure the safest and most cost-effective methods, while minimizing loss of production revenue, through innovative techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • Reviewing technical staff recommendations, cost projections, and approving expenditures and providing budget control.
  • Providing day to day guidance and technical support to Operations and Facilities Engineering staff on design, installation, and testing to ensure quality work, completed on time and within budget.
  • Evaluating and providing recommendations on feasibility of existing and new construction projects.
  • Managing the design of facilities, as determined by internal and industry control standards, and effectively communicate changes to management.
  • Leading and/or participating in Process Hazard Analysis, Facilities Hazard Identification, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
  • Maintaining compliance to the Management of Change Safe Work Practice (SWP).
  • Providing project management oversight in the development of existing assets.
  • Acting as the liaison with internal organizations in the coordination of team projects.
  • Responsible for communication of Team results.
  • Leads multi-disciplinary team meetings, providing updates and input on construction activities.
  • Provides weekly updates to Facilities Engineering Manager on project status.
  • Remaining current in the application of the latest proven technologies and methods.
  • Conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
  • Regular field trips are required and can work extended hours when required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering required (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years in Facilities Engineering.
  • Midstream gas processing experience strongly preferred.
  • Process Safety Management (OSHA PSM) experience required.
  • Strong understanding of facilities and equipment in oil and gas environment - pipelines, tank batteries, compression, wellhead connects, vessels, pumps, etc.
  • Proficient understanding of electrical and process control and automation preferred.
  • Strong understanding of facility documentation (i.e., PFDs, P&IDs, C&Es, Electrical one-lines) is required.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA Process Safety Management.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project economic analysis and basic oil and gas accounting and budgeting.
  • Strong written and verbal skills required.
  • Effective meeting facilitation skills are required.
  • Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Spotfire preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of process modeling software required (ProMax, HYSYS, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
