About the position

As a Janitor at Challenge Manufacturing Company, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities in Kansas City, MO. Your primary responsibility will be to perform janitorial duties that ensure both the internal and external appearance of the building meets our high standards. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to established practices and procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for all employees and visitors. You will follow standard work protocols and daily checklists to ensure that all assigned tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. This includes cleaning and making minor repairs to building fixtures such as lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains. You will also be responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms and locker rooms, ensuring they are maintained to the highest hygiene standards. In addition to routine cleaning tasks, you will be expected to clean and dust furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors, and manage waste disposal by emptying and cleaning wastebaskets and trash containers. The role may require the use of ladders for certain assignments, and you will also be responsible for removing outside debris and maintaining the grounds around the buildings, including landscaping and fence lines. Cleaning windows indoors and sanitizing lunchroom floors, furniture, and counters will also be part of your duties. You may be assigned additional tasks by management as needed, contributing to a clean and welcoming workplace.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas.
• Follow standard work and daily checklists to ensure tasks are performed to standard.
• Clean and make minor repairs to building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
• Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms and locker rooms using established practices and procedures.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Remove outside debris and maintain grounds as assigned.
• Maintain the landscape around the buildings and fence lines.
• Clean all windows indoors.
• Clean and sanitize lunchroom floors, furniture, and counters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and climbing ladders.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow established cleaning procedures.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
