About the position

As a Janitor at Challenge Manufacturing Company, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities in Kansas City, MO. Your primary responsibility will be to perform janitorial duties that ensure both the internal and external appearance of the building meets our high standards. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to established practices and procedures to create a safe and welcoming environment for all employees and visitors. You will follow standard work protocols and daily checklists to ensure that all assigned tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. This includes cleaning and making minor repairs to building fixtures such as lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains. You will also be responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms and locker rooms, ensuring they are maintained to the highest hygiene standards. In addition to routine cleaning tasks, you will dust and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors, and manage waste disposal by emptying and cleaning wastebaskets and trash containers. The role may require the use of ladders for certain assignments, and you will also be tasked with removing outside debris and maintaining the landscape around the buildings and fence lines. Cleaning all windows indoors and sanitizing lunchroom floors, furniture, and counters will also be part of your responsibilities. You may be assigned other duties by management as needed, contributing to the overall upkeep of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas.
• Follow standard work and daily checklists to ensure tasks are performed to standard.
• Clean and make minor repairs to building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
• Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms and locker rooms using established practices and procedures.
• Dust and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Remove outside debris and maintain grounds as assigned.
• Maintain the landscape around the buildings and fence lines.
• Clean all windows indoors.
• Clean and sanitize lunchroom floors, furniture, and counters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and climbing ladders.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in janitorial or cleaning roles is preferred but not mandatory.
