About the position

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair work on buildings and related facilities. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including construction, plumbing, HVAC monitoring, and general upkeep of physical structures. The specialist will also assist with preventive maintenance and work with contractors to ensure compliance with airport standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on physical structures using hand and power tools.
• Prep and paint structures as needed.
• Remodel using carpenter's tools and techniques.
• Make concrete and masonry repairs and perform finish work.
• Repair plumbing fixtures, drywall, ceilings, and roofs; frame and install doors and locks.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks.
• Operate and monitor Facility Management Systems (FMS).
• Operate aerial lifts, forklift trucks, and other heavy equipment as required.
• Assist other disciplines with projects as needed.
• Complete work orders and record time/material utilized on jobs through a computer-based asset management system.
• Perform preventive maintenance on building systems such as restrooms and water coolers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Five years of experience in two or more trades such as carpentry, painting, HVAC, plumbing, locksmith, or construction.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Commercial Driver's License - Class A or B (or the ability to acquire a Class B within 6 months of hire).
• Maintain Security Identification Display Area Clearance (SIDA).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with heavy equipment operation.
• Knowledge of waste management control systems.
• Familiarity with computer-based technologies including word processing and spreadsheets.
