About the position

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper operation, safety, and functionality of buildings, facilities, and equipment. This role involves performing a variety of tasks related to maintenance, repair, and upkeep to create a safe, clean, and efficient environment for employees, visitors, and occupants. The position offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 4 PM, with occasional requirements outside of these core hours. Ideal candidates will possess a valid driver's license, basic carpentry skills, and familiarity with safety regulations and procedures. They should also have the ability to anticipate situations, evaluate problems, and create solutions with a confident and logical approach, along with strong interpersonal skills including oral, written, and listening abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections around buildings and grounds and address any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Repair and maintain or replace electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems as well as lights, locks, plumbing, and faucets.
  • Perform basic carpentry work, including repairing doors, windows, and walls.
  • Assemble, erect, and reconfigure office and systems furniture on a small project basis.
  • Run low voltage wiring through systems furniture.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in systems furniture.
  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and systems.
  • Respond to repair requests and work orders, coordinating with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Maintain the exterior of the facility, including landscaping and parking areas.
  • Clear snow, ice, and debris from walkways and parking lots occasionally during inclement weather.
  • Ensure proper disposal of trash and recyclables.
  • Maintain inventory keeping an organized stock of supplies needed for maintenance tasks.
  • Track and document maintenance repairs and inspections and keep accurate logs for compliance purposes.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations, such as leaks, power outages, and equipment failures, taking appropriate actions to minimize downtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to anticipate situations, evaluate problems, and create solutions with a confident and logical approach.
  • Strong overall interpersonal skills including oral, written, and listening.
