About the position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician at Protective Industrial Products (PIP) is a critical role responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of buildings, equipment, and systems. This position is primarily focused on the maintenance and repair of complex equipment and systems, requiring advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities. The Maintenance Tech II will perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks, working independently with minimal supervision. The role involves scheduled preventive maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and repairing or replacing defective components to restore functionality and ensure safe operation. In addition to hands-on maintenance tasks, the technician will conduct inspections and evaluations to identify potential maintenance issues, respond promptly to work orders and emergency requests, and prioritize tasks to complete repairs within established timelines. The use of Microsoft Office tools and software is essential for tracking and documenting maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and parts inventory. Collaboration with the Facilities Manager and contractors is also a key aspect of the role, particularly for coordinating complex repairs, installations, or upgrades. The Maintenance Tech II will assist in developing and implementing maintenance procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe working environment. Staying updated with industry trends and best practices is crucial for enhancing knowledge and skills in maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on equipment, machinery, and systems, following established procedures and maintenance schedules.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair and replace defective components or parts of machinery, equipment, and systems to restore their functionality and ensure safe operation.
  • Conduct inspections and evaluations to identify potential maintenance issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions to prevent system failures or breakdowns.
  • Respond promptly to work orders and emergency maintenance requests, prioritize tasks, and complete repairs within established timelines.
  • Utilize Microsoft office tools and software to track and document maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with other Facilities Manager and contractors to coordinate complex repairs, installations, or upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment logs, maintenance reports, and inspection records.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe working environment.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in maintenance and repair to enhance knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Tech or in a similar role, with a focus on complex equipment and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as their repair and maintenance requirements.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialized maintenance tools.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and technical manuals.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
