About the position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the buildings and grounds of properties associated with REMS and Secure Storage affiliates. This role involves performing various maintenance tasks, including structural repairs, HVAC maintenance, and grounds upkeep, while ensuring effective communication with residents and coworkers in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform painting and structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings, including roof repair.
• Conduct apartment turn-over maintenance and minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
• Provide after-hours emergency maintenance as needed.
• Remove and install home appliances as required.
• Carry out ground maintenance activities such as parking lot maintenance, snow removal, lawn mowing, trimming, fertilizing, aerating, landscaping, and weed control.
• Maintain streets and common areas of the facility.
• Safely drive a truck for transporting materials and equipment.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with residents and coworkers.

Requirements

• A diverse and well-rounded skill base in maintenance to fulfill multiple functions throughout the organization.
• Experience providing maintenance to rental or storage units or related properties is highly desired.
• Developed communication and customer service skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in HVAC maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
