About the position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair duties across all facilities owned and operated by the Canaveral Port Authority. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of various maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC/R. The technician will respond to customer requests, ensuring timely and professional resolutions, and will report directly to the Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair duties on CPA owned and operated facilities.
  • Respond to customer requests and provide timely resolutions.
  • Conduct carpentry duties including repair and installation of wooden railings, drywall, and doors.
  • Prepare, prime, and repaint interior and exterior properties.
  • Perform masonry duties such as repairing concrete and asphalt.
  • Remove, replace, and install carpeting and tiles.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic door locking mechanisms.
  • Perform light electrical work including outlet and switch replacement.
  • Conduct light plumbing work such as installing and repairing restroom fixtures.
  • Perform light HVAC/R work including filter and belt replacement.
  • Complete work orders and forms to document repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics related to buildings and utilities.
  • Safely operate state vehicles and construction equipment in various weather conditions.
  • Maintain neat and tidy work areas.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in commercial facilities maintenance or construction environment.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
  • Ability to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Basic computer skills.
