About the position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician at Housing Opportunities of SW Washington (HOSWWA) plays a crucial role in maintaining properties to ensure safe and comfortable living conditions for clients. This position involves performing various repair and maintenance tasks, contributing to the organization's mission of addressing affordable housing and homelessness in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning, painting, sheetrock work, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs to buildings and equipment.
  • Removes and replaces partitions, installs doors and locks.
  • Measures, cuts, threads, and installs pipes for water lines, repairs, and replaces plumbing fixtures.
  • Performs minor electrical work, including light switches, fixtures, changing light bulbs, replacing receptacles, and cover plates.
  • Performs exterior and interior painting.
  • Performs concrete work in connection with sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, also on buildings and foundations.
  • Makes estimates of labor, time, cost, and materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Preference for two years minimum experience in the construction or maintenance of building, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical trades.
  • Knowledge of and skill in the methods, tools, and practices used in painting, plumbing, carpentry, concrete work, and electrical trades.
  • Ability to keep simple records and make reports.
  • Must have a valid Washington State Motor Vehicle Operators License.
  • Must furnish proof of an acceptable driving record from the Motor Vehicle Division.
  • Must be willing and able to cover 'on-call' rotation shifts.
