About the position

The Facilities Maintenance position at Challenge involves a systematic approach to the cleaning, repair, and maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, and related facilities. The role requires performing minor carpentry, painting, and plumbing maintenance work, as well as overseeing the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the physical condition of the buildings does not deteriorate and that all systems operate efficiently. This position is essential for maintaining a safe and functional work environment for all employees. In this role, you will be tasked with cleaning and repairing building fixtures, which includes lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains. You will also operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems. Preventive maintenance is a key responsibility, ensuring that building systems are regularly checked and maintained to prevent issues before they arise. Additionally, you will perform various maintenance tasks associated with building systems, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs. Janitorial duties may also be required, including cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms and locker rooms, as well as maintaining cleanliness in lunchrooms and other common areas. The position requires physical capability to perform essential functions, including the use of ladders and maintaining the landscape around the buildings. The role is located at our Plant in Irving, TX, and will be a 2nd Shift /PM position, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and repair building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate.
  • Perform maintenance tasks associated with building systems, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs to ensure that the building is properly maintained.
  • Perform janitorial duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms/locker rooms using established practices and procedures.
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
  • Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
  • Use ladders when required in work assignments.
  • Remove outside debris and maintain grounds as assigned.
  • Maintain the landscape around the buildings and fence lines.
  • Clean all windows indoors.
  • Clean and sanitize lunchrooms floors, furniture, and counters.
  • Other duties assigned by the Management.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Able to stand for 8-10 hours a day and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Has high standards of performance for self

  • Able to work with little supervision
