About the position

Little Learners Childcare Center LLC is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team and perform essential upkeep tasks across our facilities. With three childcare centers located in Washington Township, Lapeer, and Metamora, this role is crucial in ensuring that our environments are safe, clean, and functional for both staff and children. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including repairs, cleaning, and general maintenance to uphold the quality of our facilities. The ideal candidate will possess significant work experience and a solid technical background in areas such as electrical, plumbing, and basic carpentry. Reliability and self-motivation are key traits for success in this position, along with a keen eye for detail, manual dexterity, and physical stamina. The Maintenance Technician will be expected to perform minor fixes, install necessary appliances, check control panels and electrical wiring, maintain grounds, and complete regular maintenance tasks. Additionally, the technician will inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems, ensuring that all safety systems are functioning correctly. This position requires effective communication skills to report to the facilities or maintenance manager regarding resolved issues, those needing attention, and ongoing tasks. Responsibilities

  • Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks and damage to walls.
  • Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed.
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
  • Maintain grounds, including garden and yard upkeep, trimming, edging, mowing lawn, collecting trash, snow removal, and salting.
  • Complete regular maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems.
  • Test the functionality of the facility's safety systems (smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire alarms).
  • Report to facilities or maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Worker or in a similar position.
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General passion for creative problem-solving.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
