About the position

The Facilities Manager - Corporate Engineering at Shaw Industries is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of corporate facilities, ensuring effective maintenance and project management. This role involves coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders to manage building systems, vendor relationships, and capital projects, all while adhering to safety and budgetary requirements. The position is integral to supporting the Corporate Engineering team and enhancing the operational efficiency of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the day-to-day operations of the facilities, including custodial, life-safety, engineering, site services, and general maintenance, are implemented and carried out in a professional manner working with Shaw Technical Services team members.
  • Supervise all maintenance relating to the interior and exterior conditions and appearance of the properties.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring quality service delivery and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Respond positively and promptly to requests from building occupants and team leadership.
  • Assist in the development and management of the annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Possess fundamental knowledge of building systems including mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection and security systems.
  • Lead space planning, allocation and management for assigned facilities.
  • Ability to manage facility management activities and project work simultaneously.
  • Manage construction projects primarily focused on administrative spaces.
  • Deliver quality projects on time and on budget.
  • Drive architectural design, engineering and construction efforts for capital and expense projects in facility portfolio.
  • Manage all phases of projects including project kick-off, scheduling, design, construction, administration, and budgets.
  • Coordinate all internal and external resources with subcontractors, vendors, consultants of multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to read construction and other technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of furniture product specifications and installation methods.
  • Participate and support efforts regarding initiatives for Corporate Engineering.
  • Submit monthly expense reports related to travel.
  • Manage and report expenses via purchasing card software application.

Requirements

  • 4-year Construction Management/Architecture/Engineering/Business Administration degree and two (2) years facilities management experience, OR high school diploma with six (6) years equivalent experience.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal and verbal communication skills to successfully interact with project stakeholders, partners, vendors and leadership.
  • Excellent practical knowledge of facility operations.
  • Possess excellent written skills for producing specifications, project reports and communications with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately budget, track, and control operational and project costs.
  • Knowledge of International Building Code, Life Safety Code, ADA, and NFPA fire system requirements preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc), Smartsheet.
  • Other construction and / or facilities management software experience desired.
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM), International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) industry certifications desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of International Building Code, Life Safety Code, ADA, and NFPA fire system requirements preferred.
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM), International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) industry certifications desired.
