About the position

The Facilities Manager position at the Arizona Historical Society is a SkillBridge internship designed for military service members transitioning to civilian careers. This role involves significant responsibility in planning and managing the facilities' needs, including IT, maintenance, and construction projects across all AHS properties. The position may allow for remote work within Arizona, depending on business needs and performance measures.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and administer short and long-range facilities needs for AHS.
  • Establish priorities for facilities projects aligned with agency objectives.
  • Administer all phases of construction for new and modified buildings.
  • Implement cost control and accounting procedures in coordination with agency accounting staff.
  • Act as agency liaison with the Building and Property Committee, preparing reports on facilities activities.
  • Supervise staff and vendors responsible for building maintenance and grounds upkeep.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information technologies, architecture, civil, mechanical, structural, or related engineering.
  • Five years of experience in plant and property administration, project management, or information technologies.
  • Knowledge of architecture, construction engineering, and maintenance of buildings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with federal, state, and local statutes related to construction and maintenance of buildings.
  • Knowledge of information technology related to phone systems and routers.
