About the position

The Facilities Operation Assistant at Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Facilities and Risk Management by assisting with various operational and administrative tasks. This position is essential for maintaining the organization's facilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and coordinating maintenance projects. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Facilities Director in coordinating repairs, fabrication, and administrative duties for the organization.
  • Plan and coordinate all maintenance-related projects and refurbishments.
  • Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.
  • Meet with vendors and contractors to inspect facility issues and determine the need for repairs or renovations.
  • Manage and update administrative files and records in compliance with CARF, OSHA, and GIH policy.
  • Assist the maintenance team with all related maintenance projects, including lifting and moving heavy items.
  • Control activities related to camera and alarm systems, fire suppression systems, and building security.
  • Allocate building alarm codes as needed.
  • Handle after-hour calls from Alarm Monitoring Centers, HPD, and GIH personnel.
  • Respond to after-hour site visits in emergencies, including damage to facilities and burglaries.
  • Keep financial and non-financial records in safe record keeping at all times.
  • Perform data entry and file management.
  • Provide updates to management on projects and tasks.
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner, complying with safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in operations, maintenance specialist, or administrative facilities support preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle with current safety and registration.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
